No one was willing to give him the slightest benefit of the doubt...that
his motivations were anything less than craven...
McCainworld had assumed that the suspension would be viewed as an
authentic, characteristic act of putting country first. But...McCain was
now seen as a typical, and faintly desperate politician - and his
campaign a campaign of stunts.

Conservative candidate Chris Alexander has suspended his campaign for re-election in the riding of Ajax, Ont., in the wake of the Syrian refugee crisis.
Alexander cancelled a Thursday morning media appearance and is
returning to Ottawa to focus on his ministerial responsibilities. They
include looking into a case brought to the forefront
Wednesday after disturbing images emerged showing a Syrian toddler's
body washed up on a beach in Turkey.
In a statement, Alexander said "the tragic photo of young Aylan Kurdi
and the news of the death of his brother and mother broke hearts around
the world."
